Gender Justice and Women's Leadership Institute Burundi
The Gender Justice and Women’s Leadership Institute Burundi (GJWLIB) is a dynamic, non-profit organization dedicated to fostering a more equitable and just society in Burundi. We believe that true national progress is inseparable from the empowerment of women and the dismantling of systemic barriers that impede their full participation in all spheres of life.
Our Vision
We envision a Burundi where gender equality is a lived reality, where women and girls are safe, respected, and occupy positions of influence in political, economic, and social life.
Our Mission
To champion gender justice and cultivate transformative women's leadership in Burundi through targeted programs in training, research, advocacy, and community mobilization.
Domains of work
Women's Leadership and Capacity Building
We design and implement intensive training programs to equip Burundian women with the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to excel as effective leaders, decision-makers, and entrepreneurs.
Gender Justice Advocacy and Policy Reform
We serve as a powerful advocacy voice for the rights of women and girls. We engage with policymakers, civil society, and communities to push for the implementation of laws that protect women and address gender-based violence (GBV).
Community Engagement and Mobilization
Sustainable change starts at the grassroots. We work directly with local communities, men, boys, and religious leaders to promote dialogue and shift cultural attitudes towards gender roles and women’s rights
